1.The cost is 0,80€, valid on all mass transportation means, for a duration of 1,5 hours from the time of validation.

2.The cost of the reduced fair ticket is 0,50€, valid on all mass transportation means, for a duration of 1,5 hours from the time of validation. High School students, University students and those head of families of more than 3 children are entitled to it.

3.Students must prove their status with a student i.d. card and those who have more than 3 children must carry the appropriate i.d. card issued from their association.

4.Of course if you belong in the following categories: Physically Challenged children of up to the age of 6 years old, soldiers, foresters, firemen and members of the Fire Department Academy, police officers and members of the Police Academy, personnel and trainees of the Port Authorities, Parliamentarians, Handicapped War Veterans and their wives or husbands.

5.From the automatic ticket machines located at all tram stations as well as from the tram ticket offices located at the SYNTAGMA, NEOS KOSMOS, AEGEOU, AGIAS FOTINIS, MEDEAS MYKALIS, ACHILLEOS, MOUSSON, PLATIA KATRAKI, ASKLIPIIO VOULAS and SEF stations and also in all kiosks located along the tram route.

6.There are and are valid for all means of public transport. Specifically:

7.In the case you are issuing a card for the first time you need to bring with you a valid i.d. card and (1) photograph.

8.The number of the OASA call center is 185 and it is operational from Monday through Friday from 06:30-23:00 and on weekends from 07:30 – 22:30.Information may be also be obtained by visiting www.oasa.gr.

9.The tram has three routes which are the following:
LINE 3 THUKIDIDIS: SEF-VOULA
LINE 4 ARISTOTELIS: SYNTAGMA-SEF
LINE 5 PLATONAS: VOULA-SYNTAGMA

10.On Fridays and Saturdays the tram operates 24 hours per day, and from Sunday through Thursday from 05:00 to 01:00.

11.The average waiting time is 8-9 minutes (between 07:00 and 21:00), the rest of the time, up to 10 minutes and past midnight up to 20 minutes.

12.The duration under normal conditions is: SYNTAGMA-SEF 44-51 minutes, SYNTAGMA-VOULA 59-65 minutes, SEF-VOULA 41-45 minutes.

13.The speed of the tram is 24km/hour, which is equivalent to that of other tram systems operating in European capitals. However the tram as a surface transportation mean is involved and deals with the unpredictable traffic conditions which prevail in the city (traffic jams, demonstrations, blocked intersections etc). The fundamental competitive advantage of the tram however is the reliability and consistency of the schedule which reaches a peak of 99,6%.

14.From SEF there is a connection with ISAP, from Neos Kosmos there is a connection with Metro line 2, from FIX there is a connection with Metro line 2, from Syntagma there is a connection with Metro lines 2 and 3.

15.In order to save time you can use the re-embarkation stations, in which you can board in trams of different line with the same destination.

16.You may validate your ticket at the validation machine located on the dock on the other side across from you.

17.The malfunctioning of the automatic ticket validation machines is usually due to misuse by the passengers, normal equipment malfunctioning and even vandalism. Since TRAM SA desires to provide the best service possible, we control and fix such malfunctions on a 24 hour basis. However the procedure that you must follow if you observe malfunctioning of the ticket validation machines is to call at 210 9978000 ( the Passenger Service office - daily from 8:30-17:00 / the call center - daily 07:00- 20:00 and on weekends 08:00-16:00), where you may report the problem of the specific validation machine and in the case you have lost money a representative of the company will call you back to resolve the problem.

18.The fine is equal to 60 times the cost of the ticket (article no. 3446/2006)

19.Of course in a special size carrying basket 70Χ40Χ50cm as well as guide dogs used by the blind.

20.TRAM SA has assigned to specialized and trained personnel the responsibility of surveillance of the tram stations and the interior of the tram during all operational hours.

21.The transportation of bicycles is allowed without restrictions as far as the day and the time is concerned at the front end or the rear end of the vehicle. The passenger is responsible for the transportation.

22.The future expansions of the tram are part of the total transportation planning for Attica which is taking place by The Athens Urban Transport Organization -OASA, in conjunction with the other means of Mass Transportation. At present the priority is the expansion of the tram in the center of Piraeus (2009-2010) and later to the western suburbs. For the wider region of Attica the studies will be completed by OASA.

24.The right of way of the traffic lights is applied as normal. For safety reasons, right of way is not absolute but relative since the tram stops at traffic lights of principle intersections.

25.Internationally the tram is considered the safest of all means of mass transportation. In fact the construction of the Athens tram took place in accordance to the most recent specifications and requirements. The absolute safety of the passengers, pedestrians and automobile drivers is of outmost priority for TRAM SA. The gradual familiarization of the tram operators, car drivers and pedestrians in addition to the immense effort by TRAM SA to educate young and old as far as the prevailing traffic related behavior and regulations have made the tram a safe fixed rail mean of transportation.

26.Since the first day of operation the tram has climate control making the transportation of the passengers more comfortable. The temperature of all tram vehicles is adjusted centrally at the main depot prior to the vehicles departing in the morning. Consequently this set temperature at times does not correspond to changes of the external temperature which prevail in the city at different times during the day, in particular during Spring and Fall. For this reason TRAM SA is studying technical ways for the further development and improvement of the climate control system..
